Campaign on
Forest, Wildlife and Natural Resources Protection in Cambodia
Natural
Resources and Environmental Working Group Observers in which Cambodia Human
Rights Task Forces and Independent Monk Network for Social Justice initiate
joint campaign of forest and natural resources protection that is under
destruction almost completely wholly Cambodia committed by private companies
and their hired illegal loggers with support behindhand by forest officials who
awaiting for getting benefit from illegal logging such as environment
officials, forest officials and armed forces who openly defended and make easy
company and worker during logging and timber transportation. The protected
areas are under destruction and no one protecting there are located in Prey
Lang, National Park Botumsakor, Wildlife Sanctuary of Phnom Cardamom, Wildlife Sanctuary
of Phnom Aural, Wildlife Sanctuary of Snuol, Wildlife Sanctuary of Phnom Nam
Lea, Wildlife Sanctuary of Kulen Prumtep, National Park Virakchey, Prey Preah
Roka, National Park Kiriroom, National Park Boko, National Park Ream, National
Park Phnom Kulen, Preah Vihear protect area, and other protect areas.
Deforestation causes
wildlife lost because of no shelter remaining, termination of
luxurious wood such as Kranhoung, Beng, Neang Nuon, Thnung, other
lucrative natural resources and getting climate change and ruin of ecology system protection exclusively.
Forest brings
significant constituent for human being’s life living in Cambodia and in the
world as well particularly preventing from unsupportable natural disaster,
therefore please love forest in heart and help to rescue remaining forest by
altogether.
At the
beginning of forest campaign, working group observers on natural resources and
environment including monks, youth and farmers voluntarily organize campaign
and patrol forest inside Wildlife Sanctuary Phnom Aural with the aim to:
-Religious
demand and turn back conscience of people fall in love and care of forest in
heart and give up logging job with company anymore.
-Collect
evidence of illegal logging by wood businessmen and hired loggers
-Conduct
investigation forest official accomplice and take part with illegal
logging
-Data collection of deforestation
-Public report distribution on illegal logging around
Aural area.
